Published Mar. 19, 2009
The Ross College of Education at Lynn University is bringing Steve Piscitelli, a recognized teacher, author and workshop facilitator, to campus Thursday, March 26, as a scholar-in-residence. He will be doing two free and open to the public presentations:
- “Effective Teacher- Motivated Student,” 9-11 a.m., Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall
- “The Choices We Make: Maintaining Personal and Professional Balance,” 2 - 4 p.m., Green Center
Piscitelli draws on his years of classroom and professional development experience to connect with his audience. The high energy sessions will combine interaction and practicality with music and humor in such a way that participants leave with practical strategies they can begin using immediately.
His publications reflect his belief in the importance of personal responsibility and individual initiative. His latest book, Study Skills: Do I Really Need This Stuff, 2nd edition, examines how critical thinking skills are the basis for academic success and personal choice. Rhythms of College Success: A Journey of Discovery, Change, and Mastery demonstrates how respect, responsibility, reflection and renewal fuel student success.
A tenured professor, Piscitelli earned degrees from Jacksonville University, the University of North Florida and the University of Florida. He has been recognized for his effective teaching style with awards at the school, county and international level. He has also served as the chair of his college's Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning. For more information on Piscitelli and his visit, contact Joy Ruhl at 561-237-7083.
