More than a year after breaking ground, Lynn University is preparing to dedicate Bobby Campbell Stadium on Wednesday, March 26. The new stadium makes it possible for Lynn University to add men’s lacrosse to its roster of sports.

The donors who made this project a reality will be in attendance for the dedication of the Bobby Campbell Stadium. A tailgating party will take place at 4 p.m., and will include student activities, face- painting and snacks. Following the tailgating party, the dedication will take place on the field of Bobby Campbell Stadium at 5:30 p.m. Medals will then be awarded to the various donors, including Robert (“Bobby”) Campbell, the lead donor, who provided $1.2 million. An anonymous donor gave $1 million toward the naming of Malfitano Field in honor of Senior Vice President Gregory Malfitano.

There will also be a surprise half-time-like performance after the dedication.

“With the addition of Bobby Campbell Stadium, our championship soccer teams, as well as our inaugural men’s lacrosse team, can finally play games under the lights,” said Lynn President Kevin M. Ross.  “Our stadium namesake, Bobby Campbell, and so many other generous people made this facility possible, and we are excited to have our donors, students, faculty, staff and their families join us as we celebration the dedication and include a few surprises.”

The tailgate and dedication ceremony will include:

  • Free snacks
  • Face-painting
  • Stadium Tours
  • The starting line-ups of Lynn soccer and lacrosse teams
  • Inaugural season apparel for purchase
  • Flag raising

Bobby Campbell Stadium is a lighted facility that includes covered stands and enough seating for 500 spectators. It was designed by Gensler architectural firm, and construction on the stadium began in April 2013.

The first home game of the year will take place just days after the ceremony on Sunday, March 30. Below is a list of some of the first lacrosse games to be played in the new stadium.
  •  Lynn University vs. Colorado Mesa University: March. 30, at noon.

  •  Lynn University vs. Florida Southern College: April 2, at 7 p.m.
