Lynn University named a “2012 Great College to Work For”

Lynn University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Lynn won honors in three categories:
- Compensation and Benefits: Pay is fair, and benefits meet the needs of employees.
- Respect and Appreciation: Employees are regularly recognized for their contributions.
- Work/Life Balance: Policies give employees the flexibility to manage their personal lives.
"We are thrilled to be recognized as a Great College to Work For," said Carole Dodge, director of employee services at Lynn. "These categories truly reflect the university’s ongoing commitment to its staff and faculty."
The results in The Chronicle’s fifth annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 46,000 employees at 294 college and universities.
In all, only 103 of the 294 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, and Lynn was included among the small universities category with 2,999 or less students.
According to Liz McMillen, The Chronicle’s editor, “the institutions that the Great Colleges program recognizes provide innovative educational experiences – while also offering their employees outstanding workplace experiences – and we are eager to help readers learn more about them.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted numerous “Best Places to Work” programs, surveying hundreds of employees nationwide.
