Published Apr. 18, 2011
On Wednesday, April 20, Lynn University drama students in the College of International Communication are hosting the inaugural “Celebration of the Arts: Building Community Through Creativity” in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center on campus.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the lobby of Lynn’s Wold Center will be transformed into an active art gallery featuring digital student artwork on television screens as well as traditional artwork. Strolling through the lobby will be street performers, balloon artists and digital caricature artists along with finger foods and drinks.
The live performances will begin at 8 p.m. and will showcase Lynn’s drama students in the styles of contemporary, hip hop, modern jazz, Bollywood, salsa, Fosse, as well as musical theatre numbers from musicals such as Cabaret, Smokey Joe’s Café, Hairspray, among others.
After a successful dance review last semester, Lynn’s drama team created the idea for a “Celebration of the Arts.” Sophomore Bianca Barioli was the director, choreographer and a featured performer for the fall show. When discussing the “Celebration of the Arts,” Barioli said, “All those involved have dedicated their time, effort and talent wholeheartedly. This night will not only showcase the students' natural gifts and different abilities but also their passion and creativity through self-expression.”
Tickets to the event are $5. They can be purchased online or by calling 561-237-9000.
